Depending on your nationality and present academic or professional situation, you can choose among three different programmes at five different levels.

  • Types of programmes
Ánimo, ¡Chévere! considers three different programmes:
    • Credit transfer programme:
      • The student will spend up to one academic year at the host university and will follow the courses specified in a Learning Agreement. The Learning Agreement will have to be agreed on and signed by the home and host universities prior to the departure of the grantee. The grantee will remain enrolled at the home university during the period abroad. The host university will provide the grantee with a transcript confirming that the program of study has been completed listing the student results. The study period abroad will be fully recognized by the home university according to the Learning Agreement.
    • Short stays:
      • Doctorate and post-doctorate grantees will mainly perform research and specialized training activities at the host university.
        • PhD at home institution: The student is registered at a doctorate program at the home institution to follow a short stay for research in the host institution. The doctorate qualification will be issued by the home university.
        • PhD at host institution: The student registers in a PhD at the host university and to complete one (or two) short stay(s) and/or an initial phase of research. After finishing the mobility the student returns to his/her home institution or his/her previous job and finishes the doctorate thesis with long distance tutoring. The student obtains the doctorate qualification from the host institution.
        • Co-tutelage – doctorate at host and home institution: The student registers in a doctorate at the host and home institution and completes one (or two) short stay(s) following doctorate courses (if applicable) and/or an initial phase of research at the host institution. After finishing the mobility the student returns to his/her home institution and finishes the doctorate thesis with two tutors, one from the home and one from the host institution. Thus he/she obtains the doctorate qualification from both institutions.
      • Short stays for academic staff are open to research, teaching, specialized training and activities related to institutional cooperation.

In both cases, a detailed working plan must be submitted together with the application. At the end of the period abroad, grantees will have to provide a report specifying the outcomes of the work performed. This document must be signed by the head of department or the corresponding academic unit. The short stay period has to be an integral part of the grantee’s doctoral program or career development plan.

    • Full degree programme:
      • Undergraduate, master and doctoral students will have the opportunity to follow a full degree programme and obtain an academic degree from the host university.
  • Levels of mobility
The Ánimo, ¡Chévere! scholarships cover the following five levels of mobility.
    • Undergraduate: Students enrolled in undergraduate programmes that have successfully completed at least one year of their studies.
    • Master: Students who have finished their undergraduate studies, hold a degree granting access to master studies at their home university, or are currently enrolled in a master's programme.
    • Doctorate: Students or young researchers who have completed a master, hold a degree granting access to doctoral studies at their home university, or are currently enrolled in a doctoral programme.
    • Post-doctorate: Young researchers holding a doctoral degree (European candidats must have obtained their doctorate during the last two years).
    • Staff: Academic staff comprises lectures, researchers and university administrators (such as personnel in charge of cooperation offices, etc) employed by a partner university.
