partner05_alma_mater_university_bolognia.jpgThe University of Bologna, Alma Mater Studiorum, was founded in 1088 and is considered to be the oldest university in Western Europe. Nowadays, it still remains one of the most important institutions of higher education across Europe with around 90.000 enrolled students, 23 faculties, 80 research departments and research centres , 3000 academics and 3000 administrative staff.
Besides, the University of Bologna is today the most internationalised of all Italian universities.
The number international enrolled students is around 5000, while more than 2000 arrive every year on international mobility programmes such as LLP/Erasmus, Overseas and Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window The number of students of the University of Bologna who go abroad on exchange programmes or on study grants is more than 2,000.
Some of the teaching activities have been decentralised in four campus areas in the Romagna region (Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini). The Romagna Campuses are now specialised in the following disciplines: International Relations, Translation and Interpretations, Economics and Tourism, Psychology, Conservation and Cultural Heritage, and Architecture.
The academic offer of the University of Bologna is composed by around 100 Undergraduate programmes, more than 100 Master programmes, 10 of which are completely taught in English, and more than 90 Doctoral Programmes, coordinated by 14 Doctoral Schools.
